Minako Nishiyama is part of the first generation of artists to adopt Japan’s subcultures as a medium. Since the mid-1980s she has been noted for her paper pulp sculptures interfacing with feminine culture, for instance “The PINKÚ House” (1991), an enormous structure reminiscent of the doll Licca-chan’s home.
