Since 1912 we held a printed genealogy and family history of Weikert (Weickert), we could then read the following about the origin of our name, 'The name is of German origin, and Weikert is in the works "with the German name of them derived surnames "by Dr. F. Kapff, page 89, explains as follows: Wighart, Wichart, the sanctuary in battle or by Kuehne and away the family Weickert (Weikert). In "Old German name book" of Förtemann, Volume I, page 1297 states: Vigheard Anglo-Saxon, High German Weickert. In the description of the district Oberamt Mergentheim, p. 797, the name of the city Weikersheim is explained as follows: Weikersheim Which Arte old home, that home of a Wichart, Wighart = hard, strong in battle. - On bark, Prov. Hesse-Nassau, there is a Weickershof and near Vienna is Weikersdorf. The foregoing explanations of the name suggests, that our first ancestor, who led the name Weikert (Weickert), has distinguished himself by outstanding mental and physical properties.
