A bid of $33, made by Matthew Sicken, a shipbuilder and active member of the parish, was accepted. An override of $12,000 in actual construction costs was paid by Mr. Sicken. Many parishioners also donated items such as leaded windows, Stations of the Cross and the heating and lighting system.
