JANET PARADINE of Newmarket wrote to tell us that her former gardener had died. It wasn't until after his death that she found out that the man she had for so many years called Jed -who had a tendency to mumble -was in fact called something else: "We thought he said his name was Jed. Sadly, now he's dead. Jed, you never said your name was Charles!"
