The name "Harnacke" is in my opinion the same name family as "Harnack, Harrenack, Harrenacke, Hardenack, Hardenacke" and is derived from "hardenacket" = stubbornly defiant, unruly off. Among my ancestors changed the name of "Hardenacke" (North Mecklenburg 1650) to "Harnacke" (some ancestors moved to the 30-year war in the then Kur-Cologne - Olpe / Drolet). Later, the name of Unna, Bad Sassendorf also enters the Belecker / Rüthener Area (1780) and is sometimes in the church records as "Harrenacke" written. One should not overlook that could read and write in the time few and many church registers "by ear" occurred.
