Stauffer from the Celtic Stauffer (hills) and copper (ferrum, which had to do with metal or precious metals.) Stauffer's were so-called manufacturer of glasses. On the family crest on my part, there are in addition to the Knights head with feathers, a green hill, and a Ritterarm which holds a golden cup in front of the hill.
